Weight management injections – Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®)

You might have seen online or on the news that GPs can now give out a medicine called Tirzepatide (Mounjaro®) on the NHS to help people lose weight. While this is true in some parts of the country, it’s not yet available in South Yorkshire.

This delay is due to ongoing planning by decision makers to outline how the service will function locally. This includes making sure additional support for physical activity, diet and nutrition is ready too.

We know this might be disappointing, but we ask for your patience while everything is being sorted out. It’s also important to know that not everyone who wants Tirzepatide will be eligible.

The NHS has very strict criteria for prescribing it, and some individuals might not qualify even if the medication is approved.
